Hilde D. Valen has written, “Lifestyle is what you actually do with your life – and how your life affects the lives of those around you.” In this subject the word “lifestyle” takes on an extended meaning. It is about food diet and exercise. But we don’t stop there. Just as important is how we see ourselves and also how we relate to the people we mix with.

You will be expected to challenge yourself on several levels; as you learn how to acquire a healthier approach to exercise and eating, learning to appreciate your own strengths and learning to see your own worth in the context of the wider community that you live.

Through the various work areas of The Salvation Army’s own social work we will come into contact with people in varying challenging life situations. You will also be given the chance to have a practice period based at one of The Salvation Army’s institutions.

Our overseas tour is to Reykjavik and New York.
